My Mission
Welcome to Piano Expressions! My name is Allie Morones, and my main goal is to spread the love of piano and music to others. I have been a piano teacher since 2021. I started teaching family and friends to make extra money during the pandemic. My goal with this online studio and platform is to prepare individuals of all ages and give them the same chance to love the piano that I’ve had!
My Teaching Philosophy
I am committed to teaching each student not only how to play the piano, but also how to truly understand the depth of knowledge that comes with learning this wonderful instrument. My approach will focus on helping students develop strong foundational skills, such as sight-reading and accurate note-counting, so they feel confident in playing any song they desire. I believe that learning the technical aspects is essential for unlocking a world of possibilities. My primary goal is to inspire the minds of aspiring musicians, regardless of their experience level. I understand that the journey of learning music goes beyond just playing notes on a page. I aim to instill a love and passion for music, as I believe these feelings are crucial to the healthy psychological and emotional development of my students. Music is not just an art form—it is a powerful tool for building discipline, self-expression, and emotional intelligence. Throughout their learning experience, my students will be exposed to a wide range of musical elements, such as history, literature, and theory, ensuring they become well-rounded individuals with a deep appreciation for the musical world. I want each student to understand that music has the power to heal and inspire the soul. It’s a lifelong skill that can bring joy, solace, and growth throughout their lives. With the skills they develop, not only will they have the ability to perform and create, but they will also carry a profound appreciation for music wherever they go!
My Piano Journey
I grew up surrounded by music. From a very young age, my parents, grandparents, and other family members would sing and dance around me. Both of my parents wanted me to experience that same deep connection they had to the arts. At age six, I started piano lessons, and to be honest, I wasn’t excited about it. I didn’t want to practice and I had this preconception that the music would magically get learned. The first breakthrough I experienced with the piano was when I was thirteen. My family had experienced the loss of my little cousin, Aubrie. I went to my lesson rather disconnected, and all of a sudden, I felt free, out-of-body, and just loved by the notes I was playing. At that moment, I knew piano was going to be my main support through anything. The following year, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and again, I went to the piano to help process my emotions and the pain of knowing I could lose her. She unfortunately passed in 2018, and this loss caused me to stop playing piano altogether. I didn’t start playing seriously again until 2021 when I was asked by my Aunt Hillary if I could start teaching her children, Zooey and Olivia. From teaching them, I started gathering students and this spark for teaching took flight. I finished up my Piano Pedagogy Associate Degree at Saddleback College and am currently in my final year at California State University, San Bernardino, finishing my Bachelor of Music, with a concentration in Music Education. I am very excited to start the next chapter of my life and spread my love of music to everyone!
